Bowen Island is home to magical forests that have life affirming, healing powers, known in Japan as ‘forest bathing’. The trees speak to me of community, as evident in the mycorrhizal networks that connect them to each other. These unseen connections are both physical and metaphorical, extending to all living beings - including us if we allow ourselves to sense it.
I paint to express my awe and appreciation, and to connect others to the trees on a personal level. I hope to fuel others’ need to understand and protect our most valuable treasures on earth – to raise awareness of how important they are to humanity and the health of our planet. Most of all, I aim to inspire and heal.
