Little, Littler is Ruby Rowat & Gail Lotenberg, and was born
from weekly play dates between an acrobat and a dancer, on
their shared home of Nexwlélexm. Play coalesced to
rehearsals and a first performance, about the adventures of
friendship, last June on Gabriola.
They are excited to make a new physical storytelling piece
called I remember for the Arts Tour. Partner balances and
dance counterpoint their oral recollections of “what happened
together”. This piece highlights the complexity and nuance of
different perspectives in shared stories.
Ruby Rowat returned to her childhood West Coast Range on
the Salish Seas after 30 years performing, directing, and
coaching circus internationally. Her trapeze acts featured in
prestigious festivals in Brazil, France, Belgium, Japan, Australia;
she’s worked with Circus Oz, Cirque Knie, and Soleil.
Some of Ruby’s acclaimed performances are Aviatrix, The
Legend of John Henry, and Full Cream Circus.
In 2018 she became a registered Occupational Therapist in
Australia, applying the circus framework of mastering your own
weirdness, to the wellbeing of people she works with in
pediatrics, aged care, and mental health.
In May 2022, her ongoing leadership of the transformative
rhythm meditation game, TaKeTiNa, brought her to Nexwlelexm,
where she met Gail, the gardener, Pilates ace, skier, dancer
extraordinaire.
