Kathryn Beals is a self-taught artist with an educational background in forest biology. She makes art in many formats including painting, mosaics, resin, metal leaf, clay and wood.
 
Her coastal landscapes are shaped by all the beautiful places she has lived in British Columbia, particularly Vancouver Island and Howe Sound. Painting has motivated her to continue learning about the biology of the natural world, and she has made art series about the kelp forest, the intertidal zone and the forest floor. Kathryn gives back a portion of each art series to conservation nonprofits.
