Mizuki has been creating art since she was able to pick up a tool.

She creates from her deep emotions and long history as a Kwakwaka’wakw indigenous and Fukushima Japan cultures. Mizuki draws, paints, carves, and dances daily.

When she is not creating, she listens to music from many genres which sparks more creativity which makes her reach for her sketch book to draw from her thoughts. Mizuki has been apprenticing with her father Simon Daniel James since she was a young student. Mizuki’s name comes from her Japanese culture meaning “Beautiful Moon” and Yola is from her Kwakwaka’wakw which means “wind.”

Her father speaks about how powerful his daughter is, she can change the tides with her strength.
