As a contemporary art textile quilter, I create 2D and 3D narrative quilts that I hope give people the same feeling of joy, love and safety that I experience when I open kids’ picture books.
My narrative quilts are designed to be displayed on the wall or as free standing sculptures. I collage together both commercially printed fabrics and my own surface designed fabrics that I create from photography, painting, screen and gelli-printing, thread painting and hand stitching.
I love to piece together textiles that tell contemporary stories, bring to life treasured memories and explore my life as a Zen Buddhist Chaplain and activist living and supporting women and communities in S.E. Africa for 15 years.
Currently one of my favourite things to do is to creatively collage photos of your kids and their treasured childhood art work, accomplishments and clothing often stored in boxes in closets and integrate them into joyful memory filled wall hangings.
