Fine furniture and home accents that blend the structure of ancient joinery with quiet, functional elegance. It feels as good as it looks, lasts for generations, and becomes a cherished part of your daily life.
I use hand tools and traditional joinery techniques, using interlocking wood joints like mortise and tenon and dovetails that respond to the natural movement of wood. From hand-planed chairs and tables to lighting and keepsake boxes, every piece that leaves my studio is hand-finished with non-toxic oil and wax, to bring warmth and texture to your daily rituals.
For this year's tour, I am showcasing a collection of functional home pieces. This includes hand-shaped seating, as well as smaller "everyday heirlooms" like tea trays, boxes, and desk accessories.
I studied ergonomic chair design and construction in Japan under master Takahiro Yoshino at the Mt. Fuji Wood Culture Society. Before that, I trained at the Seattle Central Wood Technology Program.
