Vanessa Hall-Patch is a Bowen Island artist who holds an MFA in printmaking from the University of Alberta and a BFA from Queen’s University. Focusing on themes of collecting, recording and preservation, Vanessa creates works on paper depicting the fading cabin vernacular from the backwoods and coastlines of BC.
Using a combination of printmaking techniques, she layers detailed photo-etchings with silkscreen, embossing, goldleaf and chine collé. Her work is in public and private collections and has been exhibited in Canada, United States, Poland, Bulgaria, UK, China, UAE, and Japan. Vanessa is the recipient of various grants and awards, most recently she received the Grand Prize at the Awagami International Mini Print Exhibition in Tokushima, Japan and the Juror’s Prize at the MTG International Print Triennial in Krakow, Poland.
She lives on Bowen Island and commutes to Vancouver where she works at Emily Carr University of Art and Design.
